The Malay Language Curriculum and Pedagogy Review Committee (MLCPRC), chaired by Associate Professor DrHadijahRahmat of the National Institute of Education was formed in December 2004. The Committee conducted comprehensive review on the teaching, learning and assessment of Malay language.
In November 2005, the MLCPRC proposed several recommendations to enthuse Malay Language students in the learning of language. One key recommendation was for MOE to establish a committee to collaborate with Malay community organisations in promoting the use of the language.
In line with the recommendations of the MLCPRC, the Ministry of Education (MOE) set up the Malay Language Learning and Promotion Committee (MLLPC) in February 2006. Currently, the Committee is chaired by Assoc Prof Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Parliamentary Secretary (Ministry of Education & Ministry of Social and Family Development). The committee comprises community leaders, and representatives from tertiary education institutions, and Malay community organisations, media and other professional bodies. The Committee aims to further enthuse students in learning the Malay Language, and to develop in them an abiding interest in the language, literature and culture.
